BYD company is a Chinese Multinational manufacturing company whose main headquarter is situated in Shenzhen, Guangdon, China. BYD stands for “Build Your Dreams” , it was founded by Wang Chuanfu in February 1995. The BYD Auto is one of the subsidiary that focuses on manufacturing vehicles. It is basically the automotive subordinate of BYD Company. BYD provides it’s services in various parts of the world.

BYD Electronic, FinDreams companies, BYD Semiconductor, BYD Transit Solutions are other subsidiaries of BYD that manufactures electronic parts and automotive components and much more. It produces battery controlled Bicycles, buses, trucks, electric cars, rechargeable battery, energy storage components, photovoltaic components like solar panel etc.

BYD Auto:

The largest of BYD subsidiaries is BYD Auto which was founded in 2003. It is an automotive industry. The first vehicle that was designed by BYD was BYD F3. There broad work includes Sedan, Hatchback, MPV’s, SUVs, battery electric cars and buses and large trucks. The Best selling models includes BYD Qin Plus, BYD Song Plus, BYD Dolphin, BYD Seagull, BYD Han, Denza D9.

The three main further subsidiaries of BYD Auto is Denza, Yangwang and Fangchengbao. Denza : It’s a joint venture(formed in May 2010) of BYD Auto with Mercedes-Benz AGC  which aimed to produce wonderful luxurious

Yangwang and  Fangchengbao: Yangwang is a BYD luxury car brand. The first model was U8. The Fangchengbao produces SUVs, it’s first model was the Bao 5(hybrid SUV)

From the above discussion you may got an idea that BYD Auto manufactures passenger battery electric vehicles, plug in hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric buses and trucks in China. In 2020 BYD had the growing phase, the reason being the increasing  market share of new energy vehicles.

And since 2021 they started to sell their passenger cars  overseas  i.e in Europe, Southeast Asia, Oceania and South America. In 2022 BYD decided to end the production of internal combustion engine cars so that they can mainly focus on new energy vehicles.

Keeping the Tesla behind after the fourth quarter of 2023, BYD became the World top selling battery electric vehicle manufacturer. BYD Auto was the top seller from the first quarter of 2023 surpassing Volkswagen which had kept the title of best seller since the liberation of the Chinese automotive industry in China.

The BYD produces all the components of vehicles in house within BYD. BYD has expanded its service to over 400+ cities, 70+ countries, 6 continents. BYD has produced a new Blade battery and Dual mode hybrid power technology, making a transition from fuel powered vehicles to electric vehicles.

In India there are two BYD models available, one is MUV and second is SUV. BYD has two car launches in India –the BYD Seal, and BYD Seagull.
